The Centre for Contemporary Art in Derry~Londonderry fosters a wide range of artistic, curatorial, and critical practices through five programme streams: research and production, exhibition-making, public programmes, publishing, and residencies.
CCA's mission is to create opportunities for audiences to experience ambitious, experimental and engaging art, and for emerging artists to develop successful careers. Since its inception in 1992, initially as Context Gallery, the organisation has exhibited hundreds of emerging artists from Northern Ireland alongside international peers. At CCA you can see the best new contemporary art from diverse voices both in the gallery and online. You can also get involved with the public programmes that range from its sporadic booksvscigarettes reading group to playful family workshops.
CCA supports artists through various Continual Professional Development programmes including Crit Groups, Surgeries and other training sessions open to all artists that aim to bring people together. In 2021 CCA is one of five shortlisted organisations for the Art Fund Museum of the Year 2021, the world's largest museum prize, for CCA's work supporting artists and audiences over the pandemic.
