Voted 'Wales' Best Market 2023' by Slow Food Wales, and featured by Conde Naste Traveller as one of the ’12 Best Markets in the UK’, the market in Hay has been trading for over 700 years.
Hay Thursday Market Day is a vibrant local market held in the streets of Hay-on-Wye every Thursday. With over forty independent traders bringing a cornicopia of creativity, with local producers, street food, crafts and vintage stalls.
The monthly Hay Saturday Market is held on the first Saturday of the month from April to October, with a focus on street food, local food producers and artisan makers.
December sees the Hay Christmas Fayre joining creative forces with Hay Castle, with carol singing, hot food, mulled wine, and 100 traders selling festive gifts.
Hay-on-Wye is world-renowned for books, bookshops and the annual Hay Festival of Literature. A bustling town of independent spirit, with its own ‘King of Hay’ (fact) and a recently renovated medieval castle, Hay’s unique riverside position on the border between England and Wales makes it ideal for visitors to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside of the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons National Park.
