Shrewsbury
As the winner of the title 'Britain's Favourite Market' an unprecedented four times, Shrewsbury Market Hall is a must-visit destination.
The large indoor market first took the title in 2018 and has won the award for the last three years running, in 2023, 2024 and 2025, following a huge public vote. The market has been featured in the national press many times, often described as "the jewel in Shrewsbury's crown". And many locals whole-heartedly agree! Not only is the market hall a lively and vibrant place to visit, it is an
incubator for nurturing new talented businesses - many of whom, over the years, have gone on to expand and boost Shrewsbury's high street.
Standing proudly in the midst of the town, between Shoplatch and Claremont Street, is the Market Hall. Its Post Modernist clock tower soars above the townscape, visible for miles around. Step inside this gargantuan, quirky 1960s building and you'll find nearly 60 independent businesses to shop, eat and drink - a cathedral to independent enterprise.
There's everything from cool street food cafes, artisan bars, designer-makers and contemporary gift, clothing and home accessory boutiques through to artists, vintage sellers, pre-loved books and records and a vast range of locally-sourced fresh produce and family butchers stretching back three generations.
"The market attracts customers from far and wide. People tells us they can't find anything like it where they live," said Tenant Liaison Manager Amy Williams. "People often say it's like a London market, but under cover in Shropshire!"
The market also holds Saturday Late Nights six times a year.
